My sister, Emily, the musician. We share an affinity for minor chords and resonant, low frequencies—a slow pull of the bow over cello and bass, the thundering roll of soft mallets on timpani and bass drum. We share a Scandinavian-Japanese disposition that’s "inscrutable," some say, but for art.

The landscape was sun-drenched and the water was a bright, mossy green at Cave Run Lake. I deepened the color in the painting with sheer layers of blue and emerald to more closely match the atmospheric tone of Emily's musical compositions. How marvelous to be immersed and buoyed by music.
